After returning from Banff after my first residency in 2008, I began making these small boxed landscapes. Using acrylic paint, glue, found boxes, paper and oil sticks, I obsessively re-explored Banff’s landscapes from my memory. The semi closed lids of the boxes evoke the claustrophobic sky in Banff, exploring the closed-in feeling of the geography.
